Interventions: Trailblazers

From 2019—2020, I served as the Executive Director of Scout, Northeastern’s student-led design studio. While in this role, I lead the design team for Interventions, our annual conference. When Northeastern’s campus went remote in March 2020, we pivoted our plan for an in-person conference to a series of six webisodes that could reach an even broader audience. We took our initial challenge of holding a student-led conference that would bring together designers in and outside of Boston, and chose to view the virtual transition as an opportunity to complete the same challenge in an entirely new way.

I storyboarded, illustrated, and animated all graphics for our Interventions: Episodes series. Our first episode, the Creative Founder episode, set the style for our intro, outro, and transitions, which featured fun animated characters and interacting shapes that had been present in our print design work. Motion allowed us to elevate the initial branding and bring it into a new, more interactive, dimension.

This project was an amazing collaborative experience, with our Interventions director, Casey Martin as the producer and host, and our marketing lead-turned-editor, Emma Kanchanawat, handling the editing. While in quarantine, we recorded, designed assets for, and edited the six episodes through virtual zoom meetings and slack communication.
